One of the two locations of the Oostwijzer is situated near the center of the Oosterheem district: the Orion location. It is a modern, colorful, and spacious building with a pleasant schoolyard. Space has been created there for nature, playing with sand and water, and shaded areas. At the Oostwijzer, we strive for GROEI (GROWTH), which stands for Healthy, Respect, Result-oriented, E-learning, and Inspiring.

Who wants to sit behind their desk all day? There is another way! During the dynamic school day at the Oostwijzer, students can learn, play, relax, and move. By moving while engaging with the lesson material, you can concentrate better, allowing you to learn even more. We achieve this by having the children process the lesson material indoors or outdoors using clear assignments, while they run or jump, for example.
The explanation from your own teacher matters! It is clear what to expect and what needs to be done when, all within a pleasant classroom environment. This is very familiar, yet at the Oostwijzer, it is modernized through the use of contemporary tools; from Grade 3 (Group 5) onwards, every student has a Chromebook (providing direct feedback on your work), and English and media literacy lessons are provided from Kindergarten through Grade 6 (Group 1 to 8). The combination with plenty of play, especially in the lower years, makes us a modern school in a familiar way.
Accessible communication and connection; does that appeal to you? This is where we excel in daily practice, and it is something parents greatly appreciate. We do this together with many inspiring people around us: our fantastic students and their involved parents, our creative parents’ association, our valuable participation council, and our enthusiastic team.
