After closing of the registration period, every school looks at how many registrations there are. Are there enough places for all registered children? Then, after research into support needs, all children are placed at the school of first preference.

Priority rules

Are there more registrations than places? Then the school applies priority rules. There are two priority rules:

1. Brother or sister
Does your child have a brother or sister who already attends the school? Then your child gets priority. This rule applies at all schools.

2. Childcare in the same building
Does your child attend a childcare facility in the same building as the school? Then your child can get priority, provided the child has attended that care facility for at least four months, two half-days per week (8 hours), before the third birthday. Please note: this rule does not apply at all schools. Check with the school whether this priority rule applies. Check with the school whether this priority rule applies.

No priority based on place of residence

Where you live has no influence on placement. No priority is given based on postcode or distance to the school.

Priority rules only apply to first preference

The priority rules only apply to the school you have entered as first preference. No priority rules apply to the second and third school.

Timeline

Within six weeks after closing of the registration period you will receive notification about placement. If your child needs extra support, the school may take four extra weeks.
