In the Oosterheem district, you will find two De Oostwijzer locations, including the Cygnus location on Nieuwlandstraat. We attend school in a pleasant, cozy building where everyone knows each other. We challenge our pupils in our “preschool paradise”; a large space where, together with the teachers, an entire world can be explored and discovered through play. Adjacent to our pleasant green schoolyard is a large field with plenty of extra space to play. We also have a school dog; a kind companion who is there for every student whenever needed. At De Oostwijzer, we strive for GROEI, which stands for Healthy, Respectful, Results-oriented, E-learning, and Inspiring.

Who wants to sit behind a desk all day? It can be done differently! During the dynamic school day at De Oostwijzer, students can learn, play, relax, and move. By moving while engaging with the curriculum, you can concentrate better, allowing you to learn even more. We achieve this by having the children process the curriculum through clear assignments, either indoors or outdoors, while they are running or jumping, for example.
The explanation from your own teacher matters! It is clear what is expected of you, what you need to do and when, all within a pleasant classroom environment. This feels very familiar, yet at De Oostwijzer, it is modern through the use of contemporary tools; from Group 5 onwards, every student has a Chromebook (providing direct feedback on your work), and English and media literacy lessons are provided from Group 1 through Group 8. The combination of modern methods with plenty of play, especially in the lower years, makes us a modern school in a familiar way.
