De Elzenhoek is a Catholic elementary school in the De Leyens neighborhood. Going to school with us means good education in a friendly and social elementary school. At De Elzenhoek, everyone is allowed to be themselves and students discover their own unique talents. We are outside a lot, for example in the community garden, learning in and from nature. Together we are one school and know each other.
Cooperation partner priority rule name: Not applicable.
Sibling priority rule: applicable at all schools.
We have a GROEI vision. GROEI stands for Togetherness, Relationship, Development, Ownership and Identity. We want our students to grow cognitively as well as socially and emotionally. This is only possible if you have an eye for each other. At the Elzenhoek, students are truly seen.

At the Elzenhoek we try to find a good balance in teaching knowledge, stimulating personal development, as well as practical skills. Good education starts with good instruction. That is why we teach according to the EDI model, Explicit Direct Instruction. By teaching this way, students are optimally involved and learn to achieve the set goals step by step.

We pay attention to talent. We teach our students that they are allowed to be there and encourage their self-confidence. We are a training ground, where mistakes are allowed, where new opportunities are given. This creates plenty of room for everyone to discover and further develop their talents. We are a BPS school, which means that we are a regular school with an enhanced offer for students who are more- and highly gifted.

At Alder Corner, we go for GROWTH!
