Het Noorderlicht is a modern interdenominational school in Oosterheem. A school for all elementary school students, no matter which faith or philosophy you follow. Our identity is reflected in our behavior: the way we treat each other, the values and norms we give to our students. We see it as our task to prepare the children well for their life in society. We teach them how to develop into critical, responsible and happy citizens.
Cooperation partner priority rule name: Not applicable.
Sibling priority rule: applicable at all schools.
Het Noorderlicht is a place where you feel seen, heard, valued and accepted. We teach children to treat themselves and others well, to live together, to take good care of themselves and others. Feeling good about yourself, feeling safe and having confidence in your own abilities are conditions for children to learn and develop.

Our goal is to give our children a solid foundation for a successful and happy future.By focusing on developmental and inquiry-based learning, children discover their passions and can further develop their talents. For example, we have two equipped Science & Technology classrooms where children can be creative with their own research questions.

At Het Noorderlicht we strive for high yields in the area of specific knowledge (language, reading, spelling and arithmetic) and skills as well as in the area of broad development. We look for the zone of proximal development, so that each child can develop at his own pace and level.
